Frequently Asked Questions
Is recruitment only for first-year students?
No. All matriculated undergraduate CSUB students are welcome to participate, including sophomores, juniors, seniors, and transfer students.
Do I have to follow the recruitment schedule and attend all events?
Yes. The object of recruitment is to obtain the most information about chapters so you are able to make the best decision. You must attend all events to which you are invited. If you have a conflict (e.g. class, work, etc.) and you are unable to attend all or part of an event, you must let the staff know as soon as possible. If you choose to skip events, the possibility of receiving an invitation to membership, or bid, greatly decreases.

What if I only want to be in a certain sorority?
While many students enter the recruitment experience with one chapter in mind, it is important to keep an open mind throughout the weekend. you should not make decisions based on stereotypes or opinions of others. This is your decision and you should do what is right for you. In the end, you will be happier for it.

What is a recruitment counselor?
She is a sorority member carefully chosen from each chapter based on her enthusiasm for CSUB and sorority life, her objectivity, and her dependability. A recruitment counselor has also experienced recruitment and understands what you are experiencing during recruitment. She can provide information about the weekend and help you find your way to your recruitment events.

Will recruitment be held in-person?
To ensure students are able to participate safely, the Fall 2021 Panhellenic Recruitment events will all be held virtually. Students who register will receive instructions on how to access the virtual events. You can find the overall schedule by clicking here.
